Don't be put off applying because you are worried about how you are going to cover living costs or pay for books and equipment - Support Services can give you advice on how to deal with money and help you access different types of financial help.
Do you qualify for funding?
If you qualify as a Scottish resident, you’ll usually get funding to study at Edinburgh's Telford College. How much you get depends on the course and your situation. However, if you have only recently moved to Scotland your funding entitlement may be different.
To find out what you are entitled to, get in contact with us and we can discuss your situation and see how funding can help.

If you’ve already received funding for a course at the same level or higher, then you probably won’t get funding this time.
Studying while on benefits
If you receive benefits and plan to study full-time, you need to check how your payments might be affected. The benefits system is complex and always changing, so you need to get up-to-date advice before enrolling at the college. Talk to your local benefits office or contact us before you apply for a course.
Help finding part-time work
Many students find that they need to take a part-time job to make ends meet. For information on how we can help you with this, see our Jobzone page.
If you can't manage
If you run into money problems once you've started your course, don't keep it to yourself. Talk to us as soon as you can. There may be additional funding you can apply for through the Student Discretionary Fund.
Don’t let financial worries get in the way of your studies. We can give you practical advice on your situation and help you to start sorting the problems out. Come along to one of our Funding and Money Matters drop-ins. We hold them in Learner Services 11.00-15.00 Monday-Friday. They are completely confidential – remember, we’re here to help you!
