As new business streams in the music and creative industries
continue to emerge in the UK and across the world, a portfolio of sound
production skills are becoming increasingly valuable to employers across all areas
of the sector in addition to future freelance opportunities – with the
adaptability to work across all areas of the creative industries. Specifically
designed as a route to our flagship industry accredited HND course in Sound
Production, this full-time 1-semester course is delivered in our sector-leading
facility by our Apple and AVID accredited staff of active industry
professionals.
Focussing on a range of established and emerging practices
the course equips students with a grounding in the areas of audio editing and
production, live sound, sound design, composition and MIDI applications. With a
focus on progression to higher education, the course has a global perspective
and involves projects based on real-world experiences of working in the
industry with innovation and experimentation at its core. Our facilities
are widely respected as some of the best in the UK with 5 SSL AWS 9000 studios,
4 TOFT studios and range of industry outboard equipment and microphones.
The course is designed to be project-based and flexible to adapt to individual
goals. Upon completion of the course, students will be encouraged to
progress onto our Apple and AVID accredited HND in Sound Production or may
choose to progress on of our music and music business pathways.

It is expected that through the interview process applicants can demonstrate an active interest in an area of sound production.
To meet the academic requirements from progression on the our HE courses the following are required:
- 2 qualifications at SCQF level 5 preferably in Music, Media or Computing
- Core skills (or equivalent) at SCQF level 4.
