This HND in Mechanical Engineering course is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in a range of modules from Thermofluids to Engineering Principles as well as further Higher National (HN) units that are the building blocks of the mechanical engineering discipline. It combines advanced engineering techniques with hands-on-learning to provide a complementary blend of skills required to solve mechanical engineering problems in a wide variety of fields, such as the traditional energy and renewable energy sector, manufacturing, transport sector, materials amongst other fields. This course is intended to meet the needs of employers and will ensure you meet undergraduate requirements as well as enabling you to meet your specific needs or interests.

The Mechanical Engineering HND is a full time course which is studied over two years. There is one start date each year in August.
The standard academic entry requirements for this HND course are two Highers (C or above) in Mathematics and Physics or another Engineering Science based discipline.
Eligibility Criteria for existing College students or from other Colleges:
NC in Engineering or NC in Multi-Discipline Engineering (Level 6).
Applicants with equivalent certificates are also welcome to apply.
All international applicants will need to demonstrate competency in the English language. Applicant who do not have a recognised English Language qualification will need to take a recognised test such as IELTS and attain the required English language score.
You will develop fundamental analytical and technical skills that will enable you to pursue a career in either general or specialised engineering industries or develop an in depth knowledge for further studies at degree level.
You will study to a very high standard a range of mechanical engineering modules developing transferable skills and enabling you to develop skills you need to solve mechanical and manufacturing engineering problems which are essential for your future engineering career.
In year 1 you will follow HNC Mechanical Engineering. On successful completion of year one modules you will progress to Year 2, which follows the HND in Mechanical Engineering. You will then proceed into University or take up a role in industry.
