The course is designed to introduce you to electrical engineering and prepare you for a potential apprenticeship with ScottishPower. The course is based in both the workshop and classroom ensuring you get the combination of practical and technical skills you need for employment as an apprentice electrician.
The course will also prepare you for further study in Electrical Engineering should you wish. As part of the course, you will attend sessions with ScottishPower at their training centre and may be offered a place on their apprentice programme.
The course is a mixture of both workshop and classroom sessions providing an introduction to the knowledge and skills needed for either an apprenticeship or higher level in studies in Electrical Engineering. Subjects studied include:
- Electrical Principles
- Testing and Measurement
- Safe Working Practice
- Wiring Skills
- This course is run in collaboration with Scottish Power. Within the delivery, there is on-site bespoke training at the Scottish Power training centre. This will encompass overhead lines and jointing practical skills.
