On this course, you will be studying the important areas of networking and security. The course will look at the specialist areas of computer forensics, Ethical Hacking and Networking. You will study the first two years of your degree here at Edinburgh College (Sighthill campus) and on successful completion of year 2, you are guaranteed a place in 3rd year at Edinburgh Napier University.

Computer Networking with Security and Forensics is one of the fastest developing branches of the new technologies industries. There is a huge demand in the industry for network professionals with salaries between £30000 and £50000+

You will develop an essential understanding of Networking for Home and Networking for Small Business, or ISP introducing routing and switching in the enterprise, and designing and supporting computer networks.

You may have to study your 2nd year at a different campus depending on availability of places. This is the perfect course to prepare you for further studies in computer systems and networks at Degree level

Year 3 and 4 – Edinburgh Napier UniversityThis course capitalises on the rising awareness of the importance of network security and is a valuable foundation for a successful and well-paid career. You will study the specialist areas of Computer Networks and related systems. After four years you will have the expertise needed to create and analyse effective and secure computer systems. Subjects may include Information: Society and Security, Distributed Systems, Advanced Security, and Digital Forensics.
Entry Requirements
  • 3 Highers at C pass to include Computing, Maths or a Science.
  • An SCQF level 6 course in computing
  • Adults, and those that are not just leaving school, are welcomed and will need to sit a screening activity to assess your current knowledge level.
English Proficiency Requirements
  • IELTS 5.5
How the course is assessed

  • Mostly practical but with some written assignments and multiple choice tests.
  • The Graded unit for year 1 is an exam and for year 2 is a project.

Information on Test/Auditions/Interview Requirements
  • At interview, you may be asked to attend a screening exercise to assess your skills and there will be course information provided by a lecturer from the course.
Progression And Articulation Routes
  • You can continue your studies at degree-level in years 3 and 4 at Edinburgh Napier University with a guaranteed place upon passing years 1 and 2 of your HND.
