Hi, I'm Miles the Principal at Edinburgh’s Telford College.
I believe in the ‘learner voice’ as a positive and powerful focus to ensure that we listen and respond to our learners’ needs. This is key as the College continues to review and evaluate itself to keep on improving its quality.
This sometimes means pushing boundaries, new thinking, finding creative solutions and sometimes being totally honest about expectations - making the impossible happen does take longer! It celebrates partnership between College colleagues and the learners. It is this partnership which makes the difference, which makes the dreams come true.
What to expect
At Telford we will support and work with learners to enable them to become whatever they are able to be. This requires a partnership approach, that learners will attend, will submit work and will use their time to self study and prepare.
Key values of mutual respect and zero tolerance of any kind towards bullying, violence or drugs is paramount in our learning village. I am here to work as the ‘learners’ champion’ as well as a ‘whole college champion’ to build new relationships and work with our numerous communities.
Get involved and make a difference
We are a learning community and pride ourselves in the many achievements at Telford. We are seeking outstanding status and our learners and staff are the ones that can make this happen in partnership.
There are several forums for the learner to ensure that their voice is heard, such as the class representatives and the learner council. These are key groups and they do make a difference.
We are a College that cares and we specialise in success - your success.
Welcome to Telford - see the difference!
