Q: When is the closing date for courses?
A: We do not have closing dates for our courses, but advise you to apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Q: When will I hear whether my application has been successful?
A: You will receive an acknowledgement letter from the College within 10 working days following receipt of your application.
If your course requires an interview, you will hear after the interview whether you have been successful. If the course does not require an interview you will receive an offer of place,depending on availability.
Q: When will I get my timetable?
A: On the first day of your course.
Q: Are there any extra costs for courses?
A: For certain courses you may be required to purchase clothing (e.g. tracksuits) and/or course materials.
Q: How do I pay for my course?
A: You can pay by debit or credit card, cash or cheque.
Q: How do I apply for my bursary?
A: The College will send you a bursary form once you’ve been given an offer of a place on an NC, SVQ or Higher course (please see funding section for further information).
Q: Where can I get advice on managing my money while studying?
A: Visit the student services team where you can get advice on budgeting, part-time work and dealing with financial hardship.
Q: Can you help me find accommodation?
A: The student services team can provide you with a list of approved accommodation providers and information about student accommodation.
Q: Is there assistance available with childcare?
A: For information about nursery and childcare funding please pick-up an application form from the student services department.
Q: Is there any additional support available to help me with my learning?
A: The student services team offer drop-ins or appointments throughout your course to help with study skills, planning your work, emotional support and any specific learner support need.
Q: I’m new to the area, is there any help available?
A: Student services can help you find out more about Edinburgh and for international students there is a social programme that you can join.
Q: Is there any help available to plan for when I finish my course?
A: Student services have a dedicated Careers Adviser who can provide guidance regarding your future career or studies.
Drop-in to the student services team, located just off the Hub, Monday to Friday between 9am and 4.30pm.
