The start of the new session 2020/21 will be delivered as part of a blended approach to teaching and learning, with mostly online delivery and some limited on-campus delivery for priority groups for the beginning of term from the week beginning 7 September.
The College's main priority and guiding principle continues to be to ensure the health and safety of all of our staff and students. To keep everybody safe, for the foreseeable future, we will continue to work from home and deliver the majority of our learning and teaching and support services online.
Only those student groups, courses, and services which are identified as a priority will be on campus for the start of the session and we are currently working on planning for the safe delivery of those courses and services.
Working from home
If you only need to access the following programmes as part of your role, you do not need to log in to the College's Remote Desktop Services (RDS) as these can all be accessed via a web browser.
Using this work-from-home option would support the College greatly by releasing pressure on its Remote Desktop Services.
Here are some further helpful user guides for accessing these programs:
If you require access to other College applications and drives, then please log in to the Remote Desktop Service (RDS) using this guide:
Training and Support
To help staff with continuing to work from home and with delivering courses and services online, a training and support programme has been developed. Find out more about the training available via the Moodle Staffzone
and the Learn, Develop and Connect Planner
on the Staff Intranet.
Health and safety on campuses
Whilst the vast majority of courses and student services will be delivered online for the foreseeable future. It is important that any staff, students or visitors who are required to come in to College campuses are aware of the health and safety guidance and procedures which have been put in place to protect our Edinburgh College Community.
We have published Travel Guidance for Staff
which covers how to travel safely to and from campuses and includes information on sustainable travel options.
You MUST NOT come onto campus if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or you are within the 10-day – 14-day isolation period as you or someone in your household has the symptoms or a confirmed case. You must also not attend campuses if you are isolating due to returning from a high-risk country or if you have been told to isolate as a result of the Track and Trace process.
Please continue to follow the advice and guidance provided by the Government
to help keep yourself and others safe during this time.
