Our Successes
Bede Batters - SWAP
"I came to Edinburgh College through the SWAP Programme which prepared me for progressing towards university and primary education. Due to being home educated I had never really followed a set curriculum therefore the structure and particularly the assessments, were completely new to me.
As the course progressed however, I found I was able to achieve everything asked of me and learnt a great deal along the way.

The course structure and staff were very supportive whilst I was progressing and learning.
After college I was accepted into an undergraduate degree programme at the University of Stirling to study English. I hope to progress to teaching afterwards.

I have been very happy with my experience at Edinburgh College and would recommend it to anyone wishing to progress in life or gain new skills. It is a flexible way of learning that allows for a wide range of skill levels and diversity of learning styles."

Niko Sadlowski - Education Awards 2014

An Edinburgh College student who came to Scotland for a fresh start, fought against the odds to be named Student of the Year at the Edinburgh College Further Education Awards.

Polish born Niko, who studied NC Early Education and Childcare at the college, was presented with the award at the prestigious ceremony at The Hub.

Niko, who also works part-time at The Action Group charity for people with additional support needs and disabilities, said: "I was delighted and totally overwhelmed to find out I had won Student of the Year. I was 23 when I first came to Scotland without speaking English….. I grew up with deaf parents which meant I learned to communicate with them through sign language. I think this first triggered my interest in supporting people and their families with additional needs because I could understand the kinds of barriers they could face."

Denice Pollock, Edinburgh College 2015 Graduation, NHS Lothian Achievement Award

"As our course was ran in partnership with NHS Lothian and Edinburgh Napier University it has given me direct entry into year two of Nursing. This means I will be a qualified nurse two years from now.

I would recommend the college and the course to anyone who was considering applying, especially as a route into Nursing. The lecturers made the course very interesting and provided us with so much help and support throughout."

My journey at Edinburgh College has enabled my career. Without the training I gained at SVQ, NC, A1 and HNC, I would not have been able to put so much into practice and develop professionally and personally."

Stuart McAllan, the only Reserve Pharmacy Technician in the UK Armed Forces.

"The University access to Nursing course gave me the foundation of knowledge I need to pursue my dream as a Staff Nurse, I learned to empathise and show compassion and to truly understand the complex needs of those that require care.
It was a poignant part of my training and one I will never forget! I made friends for life and will be a better Nurse for it!"
