Sam Hogrefe

Sam Hogrefe

Sam started his career by completing a four-year apprenticeship as a chef so understands the importance of good vocational training. However, uncertain about this career choice, he elected to study at university as a mature student, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) and a Bachelor of Laws. Sam went on to qualify at Clifford Chance, a leading global law firm based in London, where he initially specialised in corporate finance. After working at several other top-tier law firms with a practising focus on banking and finance law, Sam has since dual-qualified as a solicitor in Scotland. He now works in-house for a bank with a focus on commercial SME customers, digital and payments.

Although unrelated to his career specialism, Sam also studied for a Masters of Law (Employment) and used to give pro bono advice to clients through the Free Representation Unit.

Life outside  the office for Sam involves a mixture of sport (skiing, cycling, kayaking) and more down-to-earth activities such as DIY and gardening. As an ex-pat New Zealander, Sam is a passionate supporter of the All Blacks but, in recognition of where he has made his home, is also a season ticket holder for Scotland’s rugby team
